– author, mentor, and media specialist Rahkal C. D. Shelton went from single career woman to instant mother of two. ). Passionate about serving and impacting culture, she loves volunteering, educating and empowering youth through mentorship. Over the last decade, Rahkal has worked in sports, news and entertainment media. She has both experience and talent ranging from hosting, coordinating, producing and directing.
Rahkal is a proud alumna of Texas Southern University and a graduate of Governors State University where she completed her master’s in media communication. In 2017, Rahkal works in Business Administration for CNN and was previously employed by some of the most well-known companies in the nation, including Turner, WGN, Clear Channel Communications, The Smiley Group and Free Spirit Media.
Despite these stellar accomplishments, Rahkal is proudest of her dedication to the Chicago Public School system. In 2009, she found her purpose and gift of mentoring and organizing. This has led to working with disadvantaged students as well as employees within elite corporate structures, proving by action that she is a helpful guide to both. Her short-term goal is to travel across the country to speak with and motivate students. She also plans to start a nonprofit organization that will serve low-income youth and help develop future media professionals.
Rahkal currently resides in Atlanta, GA with her two little ones. She enjoys poetry, everything Sade Adu, jazz, live and reggae music :)!
